Current Happenings and Brendon's Departure

Hello all!
It's been a while since I've been on here, so I figured I'd let you in on what's going on.

The first thing that should be known is that Damnum Animus will be putting out another new album within the year. It is entitled "My Last Nightmare", and it is a concept album centered around the theme of spiritualism. It will consist of 4 songs, three shorter tracks (<7 minutes) and one long epic (>18 minutes). Said epic will consist of 5 parts. My good friend Sarahjean will be playing piano and keyboards, I will be providing cellos, guitars, drums, and vocals, and my other friend Nick will be on bass guitar. There will be more black metal influence in this work than the last one, but it will be more eerie style black metal/ambient (Burzum) as opposed to standard black metal.

I regret to announce that Brendon Blackwelder has departed, albeit on good terms, from Invoking The Divine. Josh, Neil, and I will continue on without him, and we will be using Steven Slate Drum software in his place for our demo EP, "Invoking The Damned". My best of luck goes out to Brendon, wherever he may be.

Damnum Animus - "Sanity: The Lies of the Father"

If you couldn't tell, I am very excited.
I am pleased to announce my first release for the new year!
It is entitled "Sanity: The Lies of the Father", and it is ambient/depressive symphonic.
The EP is three tracks long.
The lyrics encompass religious struggles, heartache, and living without purpose.

The Maelstrom of My Bands

Hello! It's me, Chad. I apologize for not putting up a blog recently, but I have been so busy that I could not do anything about it. Right now, I have several things in store for my multiple projects, and I am here to tell you about them.

First off is Decaying My Youth. If you recall, I was supposed to put a 5 track EP out about 4 months ago. Needless to say, that fell through. I will, however, be releasing said EP within the next few months, with a sixth track added. My good friend Sarah Jean is doing the album art for me, and I have to say, it looks bloody amazing. The production will be more spacey than I am used to, but it will be something that, hopefully, will keep my detractors satisfied.

Secondly, I am (or soon will be) in another untitled band with my good friends Josh Horne and Brendon Blackwelder. I am handling the vocals, while Josh takes care of the guitars (and I must say, there are some incredible riffs flying around) and Brendon is on drums (again, I must say that there are some impressive skills going on here as well). Nothing is set in stone yet, but with any amount of luck, a good EP will develop from the mayhem.

Finally, I come to The Fall of the Heretic. Previously, I had said I was going to go straight to a full length. This is NOT the case, as I will be doing one more EP before the earth shatteringly massive task of the LP. This EP is entitled "Daybreak of Dementia", and it will feature such songs as "My Dominion" (written by Carl Savage), "Before The Dawn Awakes" (written for Stephanie Venezia) and "Broken Wings" (written for Rachel Wells). I will be utilizing all new production techniques for this album, including double micing and a new drum software. I will also be using dual vocal styles (harsh vocals and clean vocals). With any amount of luck, this will be the best release from TFOTH yet.

A Blog Post in the Style of Hemingway

The man sat at the table, or rather, atop the surface. Humming in his ears were the soundwaves of ages before, which led him to muse up whether to complete his task. In hand he held a letter, and the same hand violently shook like a thousand earthquakes. He muttered to himself the lyrics of his favorite song, "is this soliloquy or psychosis...or self-hypnosis?" Truthful words coming from a mind that had been pushed past the point of breaking. And his thoughts drifted to a time now gone, but one that could be regained within a moment. His eyes darted back and forth, observing the many familiar faces before him, but his heart stopped momentarily lest he not find the one he sought. But lo! The face of she who he loved appeared in the sea of monotony as a shining light, a beacon to a ship lost in a fog of sorrow. His already taxed mentality struggled to find the phrases locked away inside his head. Syllables and consonants flew and swirled around inside his subconscious, but the few words he uttered revealed the pain that imprisoned him on a daily basis. She departed from his sight, the letter clutched in hand. He breathed out, a long, extended sigh that rattled the bones of his chest. And the man sat at the table, or rather atop the surface.

I shall leave it up to the readers to interpret this.

GAHHHHHHHHHH!

Okay, so if you didn't gather by my gah, I'm gonna talk about things that piss me off.

1. Loud gum chewing-if you're going to chew your gum like a retarded cow, please do it where I can't hear it.
2. Hypocrites-makes perfect sense, you condemn me for something I do, but then you go and do it yourself.
3. Haters-if you're gonna hate on my music or something, at least have a good reason that you can stand behind.
4. Loud food chewing-same deal as 1. Drives me berserk. Can't you chew with your mouth closed?
5. N00bs-being serious here. I can't stand it when some little kid is playing CoD and screaming because they told the person in front of them not to kill them, when it's a fighting game!

That's all I've got for right now. Though, I would like to end this blog with a quote from one of my favorite songs, by the band Five Finger Death Punch.

What's Next For Heretic?

Greetings to everyone.

Now I suppose that some of you are saying "Chad, what's coming next for Heretic?"
Well, that would be a full length, believe it or not.
It is an album that I have had in and out of progress for close to a year at this point.
The good thing about this is that I already have the lyrics, all of them, written, so no time is going to be wasted on that aspect.
I will be borrowing a Shure SM57 microphone for the recording from my good friend. In case you didn't know, the SM57 is THE industry standard for recording, used by such bands as Metallica and Slayer, and such producers as Andy Sneap.
The title of the album is "...And My Bloodletting Begins", and it is a very religion centered album. Now, having said that, it's not pro-religion, for sure, but it isn't blatantly anti-religious either. Songs such as "Slaves To Silence" and "Fallen From Grace" simply tell a story, with the former being the persecution of middle eastern Christians, and with the latter being the story of Satan's fall.
I will be continuing my previous style of riffing, that being very groove oriented riffs, but more diversity will be in order. The final two songs on the album will be where things get really interesting, as it will be recorded as one song, entitled "Revelation".
